Webcam Munny pt.1

I took a munny that my sister failed to complete, so now I'm gonna be making myself a new one! There are 2 different head designs I have to decide between:
- the more agressive one on the left
- the softer looking one on the right

whats that on it's forehead? a fuckin webcam!

I've been itching to make a munny that actually had a function and this is my chance.

Munny:jewelry holder

Finished my second munny (a while ago, just haven't had time to get some good pictures of it)!
This was my gift for my girlfriend.

The first picture is what I used as the kind of design I wanted for the munny. The blank munny was a glow in the dark one, since they didn't have the normal white ones.

I had the whole idea of making the head open by a hinge in my head, but I didn't know how to actually make it, so I pretty much winged it the whole time, making mistakes along the way. I thought i could add clay and shape it by hand to close, but it never closed properly. Another challenge was trying to figure out how to fit the hinge on the munny. What i did instead was use the clay to reclose the head, but with the hinge and the screws in place so i didn't have to worry about cutting more of the vinyl on the head. After i baked it, I sanded down the clay and cut the head open again for a smooth sharper edges.

I painted the munny by mixing red and brown for a kind of mahogany colour and used a thin paintbrush to add the gold lines. I was totally making up the design as I went, and after I finished I realized the lines in the head made it look more like a ninja... and the layer of gloss I added didn't look smooth. It looked too sloppy. A shiny mahogany ninja that could open it's head...

So i scraped all the paint off and repainted the whole munny and simplified the design. I didn't use the glossy finish. In my opinion it looked a lot better with a matte feel. It makes the colour look more uniform and simple.

I originally wanted it to be a jewelry box, but the head was too small to hold anything, so I rolled some foam paper and hotglue gunned felt over it, then fit it into the head to make it a ring holder. It didn't turn out EXACTLY the way I expected it to, but it turned out great in a different way.

Munny: Vivi 2

After adding Sculpey to the munny:
I had to redo the hat sooo many times, and when I finally got it the way I wanted, I found out it was too heavy, and if I put it on the body it would fall backwards... so I added the tail to the back of the body to keep the munny balanced.

Baked the head and the body at 275 degrees C for 15 minutes as instructed on the Sculpey package, and this is what I got in the end. The back of the munny didnt turn out as well as I expected, the gap between the head and the neck is too wide, and the coat tail sort of looks like a buttcrack but that's okay:

Now all I have to do is sand down the bumpy edges, smooth the sculpey out, then paint!

Munny: Vivi

My munny is going to be based off of Vivi from final fantasy 9.

supplies for the munny: acrylic paint, sculpey oven-bake clay, paintbrushes
Munny quick sketch and outlines with the design drawn on the template I found a while back. I also though of doing a moogle. the moogle would have been awesome but someone's already done it -_-. lets hope this Black Mage works out!!!!!!

also since Id have extra sculpey left after this I was planning on making more munnies, I think it would be awesome doing all the Black Waltz' from Final Fantasy 9 because they look so bad ass, and it would be awesome having a set of munnies with a theme that fits them together.

The only downside to making munnies is that there's sOOooOoo many things you can make it into. My other ideas included functioning computer speakers, graffiti, and a lot of different random designs... aiyahh...

if only i had more moneys to buy more munnies...
