hip hop dance?

alright, I can say a lot of things about this video because I agree with most points, but disagree on some... but ill try to keep it short

First of all my arguement will be based on hip hop as a CULTURE not as a genre of music

Now let's see what I agree with in this video:

I do agree that bboying is the original and true dance of hip hop. why? because it is the original dance element of hip hop.

But, there are some things I disagree with in this video:

I disagree with both of them hating on hip hop choreographers who teach routines to hip hop songs. why? because everything in hip hop evolves. the music, especially the MC aspect of hip hop (rapping), has evolved to a point where hip hop now sounds REALLY different from what hip hop sounded like in the past. Can you bboy to every hip hop song that has come out lately? no. So what do you call the kind of dancing that these "hip hop choreographers" teach? i don't want to get into this because someone already has... april rodriguez http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/note.php?note_id=161142462636&id=6004003&ref=share

The big problem with hip hop culture today is that hip hop has evolved so much that the genre is blending in with other genres. If you really think about it hip hop culture has expanded to a point where its hard to define hip hop culture with the 4 elements/pillars. Each of the pillars themselves evolved into separate cultures.

Overall, my opinion is that the true hip hop dancers are bboys, but poppin pete and teresa shouldn't reject dancers who dance or freestyle to hip hop music from the hip hop culture.

I miss art

one thing ive stopped doing is art.... I used to doodle all the time in class and waste lots and lots of white paper as a kid. I remember even drawing a line, screwing up and throwing the whole paper away because when i erased it there would still be that light mark. Ive killed lots of trees :S... but at least we recycle now haha. used paint shop pro as my first graphic design program to colour in my drawings... then got my hands on photoshop 7.0 thanks to KazAa. these are the only images I have on my laptop right now but Ill be uploading more old school art later... looking back i realize that I really sucked back then. I used to think i was the shit, but really my drawings weren't that great... can't wait to make new stuff because I can borrow Christine's tablet. too bad I have no time.

Life has its cracks ... & sometimes you fall in

Inhale but you choke and in an instant you feel it. Like a cold wind encasing your whole being. You know that feeling, the only consistent thing in your life. You lose yourself for a second but that's all it takes - isn't it? Then as if the ground opens up and you fall in. Deeper into the dark recesses of your mind. And there you feel it boiling up. The liquid all around you drowning you, scolding your flesh as the bubbles burst with thoughts that you would hope to forget, but never really do. Its all too familiar, this pain, yours and yours alone. You're so far down you can't even see, someone up top looking for you asking where've you been. No answer. Silent. You don't even bother to try but then again whats the point? You've been through this several times. You've given up several times, you just leave when the going gets tough. Maybe that's all you need some time... time is all you need. This happens time and time again and yet you keep coming back and you don't know why. Maybe if you have enough time you can figure it out and start from there. Work backwards from here. Pick up the cluttered mess in your head and put it back together so that it can heal, stronger. Give yourself another chance and take another breath. Slowly, looking forward passed the crack in the ground and onward to the next step you know you can make.

Ask me!

http://www.formspring.me/PaulyPaul

My friend Laura told me I'm a very difficult person to understand. She said something that caught me completely off guard. She asked me if there was a reason behind all my laughter. Well to be honest I laugh because that's how my dad always reacted. He would always laugh or chuckle when my mom was always mad at him or if something really displeased him. Why? I have no idea. I just like the idea that laughter can make any situation a little brighter. Well in order to help my friend Laura understand me I opened an account with Formspring.me

Feel free to ask me anything. Personal, jokes, mathematical problems (doubt I'll get any of that), and other what have you.

- Hope everyone had a great reading week, and wish all those who are going through lent right now to keep your heads up! 40 days!! I'm giving up chicken, beef, and pork. So I'm pretty much a vegetarian who still eats seafood. Good luck to all those with lenten promises!

TALENT

Talent:Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary

Talent:Dictionary.com

I remember I was having a discussion with a friend quite some time ago and the topic of being talented arose.
She said she wanted to be a talented singer and that she sings but she doesn't think she's talented.

Both of the links given are dictionary definitions of what talent is.
They say something about having some sort of natural aptitude to a certain activity or skill.
I beg to differ.
I believe talent is something you work for, sometimes you don't realize it and sometimes you do.

Some people have said that I am a talented illustrator even though I would disagree with them. But see that skill was not always there I did not randomly gain the 'talent' to draw. It took time and development. I even remember how horrid some of my oldest drawings were horrid. But there were people that encouraged me to continue because I enjoyed it. Its the small compliments that plant a seed into your head that, 'Hey maybe I can do this.' and thats all you need to get started. Then eventually there's more compliments and you work at this skill and make it better which further feed your ego in this ongoing process. Then people realize that you have a talent even though you may or may not have realized how much work you've done to get to this point.

My point being that I believe we are all capable of anything we want to accomplish or anything we want to do. It takes hard work but you can do it, and a little encouragement can do wonders.

So I'd just like to say that whatever it is you want to do just do it. There is nothing to hold you back but yourself. If you really want to do something then find a way to make it happen or else you're lying to yourself and you don't really want it.

I know this has turned into a rather long message but hopefully you get my point. I just had this thought in my head for a while and only now had the time to share it. Just remember its your life you can do what you want.... just as long as its legal haha..

Highschool Music-ill

I miss those days when songs were all so wholesome lol. Where nice vocals, a chill beat, and a smooth flow all meshed nicely. It's all so club banger nowadays. They don't really play songs you can just sit on the block on a nice summer day and just chill with anymore. This music video always gives me good vibes plus you get a glimpse of Lil wayne before he began sippin on sizzurp and his "no homo." haha. Honorable mention in terms of nice vocals and clean raps would be in no particular order:

So Into You - Tamia and Fabolous
Don't Get no Better - Cassidy and Mashonda
I'm Real Remix - J.Lo and Ja Rule

But here is the song and video that makes me a young kid again falling in love for the first time:

Neva Get Enuf - 3LW and Lil Wayne

DUB-STEP!

I really really like dubstep, but its so damn hard to find good ones... luckily the dj that produces the music for my casa fashionshow scene is into glitch mob and dubstep heheheh. which I only friggin found out two days ago! If I knew he was into that kind of music I'd be so down to make a pure dubstep, glitchmob nightlife scene baha

anyways, credits to jason tang for helping me find some good dubstep

Synthetic Creatures..... BLASPHEMOUS!

Check it some new article about the U.S. wanting to create indestructable synthetic organisms.
- Synthetic Creatures -

Well another one of my interests is technology and its progression and usually im one to accept new things but this is just wrong in terms of fixing something that isn't broken. Now we're just asking for ourselves to be killed by our creations much like those sci-fi movies that I enjoy all too much. (you know the ones im talkin bout)

I am sorry but this is one of the things that piss me off, the arrogrance of the military to think that they are above laws like the laws of nature and they try sh*t like this. For instance when looking over some new military tech they're very revolutionary with weapons and and how to kill/destroy things faster and easier. Why don't they invest on something that ACTUALLY helps keeps us safe instead of advertising that these weapons can help do that.

For instance - and im putting my idea out there - if its possible to create high powered weapons why can't we come up with high powered defenses. Example a device that may be able to repel missiles with say an ElectroMagnetic Pulse or on that note something that can dissarm weapons from a distance.
And i'm sure there's a saying that goes something like...
"The greatest battles are the battles not fought" something like that
To me this means that winning does not neccessarily mean that you need to fight.

but yeah ... found this off Gizmodo one of my regularly visited sites for new tech. and just felt like i should express my concern about the direction we're taking with technology.

either than that its cool so just...

Words.

Words are powerful. They can make a person. They can create images and ideas while at the same time cause lots of confusion and hurt. I fuck things up because of words. Got to learn to watch my mouth. Peace.
