Just a Quickie

David and I started this piece 2 months ago, but never got the chance to finish it until now :) I'm actually happy with how it turned out. When we first did the dance two months ago we thought it was the best choreography we've done, but after filming it once we thought it was shit. Maybe one day we'll make up choreo during the day so we don't go crazy around 4 am trying to rush the dance.

oh yeah, did I mention we made more choreo right after?

- mike

Shiett. Great movie to start off the day.

PS. Mike you down to make some more choreo today? haha

Have a safe trip Mike and Happy Holidays Paul.
Kinda sucks that I won't be here for everyone's last term and that I have to work but I'll be sure to visit. But damn it sucks how every time I have to move out I'm always home alone and no it's not as fun as you think when you know that when you come back nothing will be the same.
But that's life and s'all good as long as we keep in touch and don't forget who are friends are. And with that said... SC2 hahaha. It was either that or a PS3 and right now I'm going broke with christmas shoppin for the fam.

Well anyways I gotta finish moving out soo...

Good movie. It was very... real, kinda felt like it could happen to me. But if there was one thing I would like to comment on it would be the fact that the dad was kind of right. Don't get me wrong I'm all about being chivalrous and simple but amazing relationships... but I sorta felt that he would be the kind of guy to distract her from reaching her dreams (I could be wrong).
Oh well. It is just a movie and a good one I recommend watching, it just hit pretty close to home.

BTW Paul if you read this I still need to grab that movie off you, My Best Friends Wedding. I'm in a movie watching spree and that one is still on my list.

Co-op student maps the world according to Facebook

from Waterloo's Daily Bulletin

Computer science student Paul Butler hit the worldwide news this week. Paul is nearing the end of a co-op work term at Facebook, and "while his code was compiling", did a little playing with some data from the half-billion-member social network.

map of connections among facebook usersThe result: a map (left) that provides a visualization of global friendships — filaments connecting the home cities of pairs of Facebook "friends." Paul and his map have been featured in media from PC Magazine to the National Post.

Says one tech website: "Butler took a sampling of about ten million pairs of friends from Facebook's data warehouse Apache Hive and began by combining that data with each user's current city, summing the number of friends between each pair of cities. That data was then merged with the longitude and latitude of each city."

"As Paul explored the data in open-source statistics environment, he pared it down and down and moved it around and found something fabulous . . . a finely detailed map of the world made real not by the traditional coasts, rivers, and political borders, but by real human relationships."

Telepono!

Telephone

To see or hear a telephone in your dream, signifies a message from your unconscious or some sort of telepathic communication. You may be forced to confront issues which you have been avoiding. Alternatively, the telephone represents your communication and relationship with others. If there is no dial tone or the phone is left off the hook, then the dream indicates that you are shutting yourself out. You are experiencing difficulties in getting your thoughts and feelings across.

In my dream I was buying a telephone with/for someone. :O

Just watched this and no lie I teared up a bit. I know softtt but whatever I'm not afraid to say I can be at times. It's a good watch, no doubt, and I do recommend watching it.

It's too REAL. The kids are unhindered and intelligent for their age and the teacher is a wise man making a difference in the lives of his students.

Thursday 25 November 2010

just found the right song for my next choreo.

Musiq Soulchild - Teach Me How To Love

I realized that everyone I looked up to in UW HipHop had done choreo to Musiq Soulchild.
JustFriends - Hugh
TheReason - Martin
Lullaby - Dan (never had the chance to learn this but it was pretty sick)

Each choreo was pretty memorable... even though I don't remember all the moves.
And that lead me to cop'n all of Musiq Soulchild's albums which led me to this song.
Maybe I can think of a concept/location for it since that's also been on my to-do list for who knows how long.
Ian Eastwood-"So Beautiful"

Was this posted already? I can never really remember or keep track...

Need to find me a good soul-ful song like this one to choreo to. Gotta change up the pace from all this gangsta music and what nots.

Also... I want to make a concept video soontimes before this year is over.

I've noticed them putting on some winter weight and I don't know why but I just find it funny. What really gets me is when they try to run, haha. They're considerably slower and it looks like they struggle a bit and yet I can't help but laugh to myself every time I see them...

"The film is the visual realization of Discovery, an album by Daft Punk."

One of my favourite albums and "music videos". It's kind of like what goes on in my head when listening to music. I visualize a story to go along with the track. And yes I do own the DVD for Interstella (thanks to one of my best friends) but I have yet to get the actual album.
So I'm pretty sure the only concert I've been to was for Daft Punk and horryy shiet it was amazing. It was a crazy light show filled with good music and it didn't hurt that I was under the influence...

Nice & Smooth - Sometimes I Rhyme Slow

I was driving this weekend from Hamilton to Waterloo (just about 1 hour drive) and just chillin' listening to music with my buddy. Note that this was just about 4-5 in in the morning. And the song above ^ came on. Personally it's one of my favourite songs because I can listen to it whenever and it'll still be good. Another song which I really like is the following song from which the first song posted, had sampled the beat. Both very chill, tragic songs but that's what makes them so good.
Both speak of the reality of life and not just some hollow lyrics about partying...

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

Honestly, I sometimes feel that I'm really an old boring man stuck in a young 20-something year old's body. But if that means that I get to enjoy good music and not care what people think then so be it. I do enjoy classical music, doo-wop, motown and generally songs with some substance in them. This might explain why I'm behind on the music scene most of the time, but that's only because I'm too busy listening to other songs that actually mean something to me and make a connection with me. I can't say I really relate with the whole partying scene because it is fun but most of the time I prefer more casual or even intimate situations...

That's all I gotta say.
From the boring old man...

Good day.

Currently mellowin' out to her sultry sound.

TakeItEasy...
Whoa weird dream.

Had some sort of family reunion and I met my paternal grandfather and everyone was happy and laughing. There's two things wrong with this picture.
One: Both my grandfathers have passed on.
Two: My paternal grandfather was a d*ck from what I hear and my father hated him.
Part two of my dream is that I ran into a good friend of mine that I haven't seen in a while. It was nice to see an old familiar face.

Sometimes I feel like dreams have some deeper meaning...
maybe this time it's just wishful thinking.

MIND BLASTING!!!

A.I.

[Artificial Intelligence Timeline]:
From Cave Paintings to the Internet A Chronological and Thematic Database on the History of Information and Media

A.I. has always fascinated me and the possible implications of its existence. The moment we achieve A.I. (AKA the Singularity) would be the turning point in human history because it would start an era where humans will no longer be the dominant species as machines will have far greater computing capacities.
For the most part I have viewed it as a good thing and an inevitable progression of our own self destructive nature. We are so determined to progress that we forget the consequences... such as polluting this place we live in and destroying so much of the natural world.

I know it sounds like hippie speak but its a truth that we choose to ignore in order to feel better about ourselves for taking advantage of the luxuries we currently have.
But then again what do I know this is another random post on a blog which is probably stored on some server somewhere the is taking up space and using up electricity...

In other news one of my favourite movies is the movie A.I. Artificial Intelligence.
It's about a journey of a robot boy just trying to find his way home. I always found it cool since it was a mix of my favourite genres: Adventure and Science Fiction. I do recommend watching it if you do enjoy those genres...

Ok so no lie Pulp Fiction was actually pretty good. The plot is full of random ish and it was kinda like "WTF" at some parts but overall good movie I think. Funny thing is I actually liked Samuel L. Jackson in this movie. Normally I don't enjoy his acting with the few exceptions such as Unbreakable, but I enjoyed his constant rants on his religious views which were quite amusing especially when his partner appears to have conflicting views when it comes to that subject.

In the end I do recommend Pulp Fiction ( not so much Resevoir dogs)  it kind of has the multiple convergent storyline thing going on... sorta

(First/TopLeft: Quentin Tarantino; Second/Top: Jordan Pundik (lead vocalist of New Found glory; Lastt: Robin Williams)

So I was talking to Mike about Reservoir Dogs (which I have still yet to finish) and  according to Mike Quentin Tarantino looks like the lead vocalist of New Found Glory. Not gonna lie he kinda does. But then while I was looking at pics to post to compare I thought to myself that they also vaguely look like Robin Williams... maybe it's just me ahah, oh well. (I think its the nose and roughly their facial structure.)

And if you guys don't know who New Found Glory, they're an american rock band. They were also one of the bands I listened to in my emo days. Here's one of my favourites from them, but I do warn you Mr. Pundik's voice can be kind of whiny... oh well I still like them as a band.

Island

Philip Glass - Island

Listening to this while walking around campus kinda gives me an eerie feeling that I'm in a movie.
(Cue the music)

The trees sway with the wind as red, orange and yellow leaves fall out of the trees floating by you. The leaves stumble across the ground, in unison as if they had a destination. People pass you by as you are walking to class, wearing hoodies, leather jackets and tuques. You can see them talking with one another but you can't make out what they're saying. You wonder what their stories are, where are they headed, but then you quickly brush it off as you continue on your path.

It kinda seems like the beginning of a horror film when everything is calm but you can feel a slight tension of things to come. Let's hope things don't get too weird.

The end kept me on the edge of my seat (I've never seen it before until today).

I do recommend if you haven't seen it, then watch it and if you have seen it then watch it again. I don't care if you don't like singing and sh*t. It's a movie worth watching if not for the singing then for the in-depth character development, the side-plot of WWII, the random funny moments and the fact that it's a classic (which people will penalize you for not seeing).
That is all... now go watch the movie.

We Will Share the Endless Passion of Immortal Love

Dracula:Dead and Loving it
This movie is definitely one of my favorite comedies (up there with Zoolander)! I used to pass around a bootleg VHS of this movie to two of my best friends and we'd have the whole movie memorized haha. good times. good times. It might not be as funny to you guys watching it now, but it almost had me peeing my pants EVERY time I watched it back in elementary school. EVERY time. enjoy!

Mario - Let Me Love You

This here video brings back some old memories.
I'm not sure when but sometime in elementary (gr.7 or 8) I watched this video and I honestly remember my very first attempt at dancing. I would close the door to my room and try the moves seen in this video. I tried to copy the choreographed dance sequence around the 1:27 mark, but only the small moves because I was pretty n00b-ish. This was before all the breaking, hip hop choreo and dance experience I have now, so I'm pretty sure this is what sorta sparked my interest in dance.

Also side note:
Because of this video I've always wanted to live in a loft where I can personally put designs on my walls like the ones shown in this video. And I'm pretty sure I tried to copy some of the art in this video which would explain why I draw some things the way I do now...

yeah... it's been quite a while...

Something Corporate - Punk Rock Princess

So I recently rediscovered this song...
the thing about it is that I'm pretty sure this is the first rock song I ever listened to and liked. It was in grade 8 and my Friend Maddy told me to listen to it and I thought it was pretty good. This was a turning point from listening to pop music and rap. It was a different and I like it...

Deuces

How do you like your eggs...

So randomly I decided on looking up how to cook eggs and it turns out that my idea of a "sunnyside up" egg is really an egg made "over easy"... weird, I've been taught the wrong thing for years. It's all good though... apperently I like it over easy.
