Sexy Sustainability
So I'm not sure if you guys know this but I am a bit of a treehugger, so I enjoy learning about green technology and simple sustainability in life. Two of the major focuses in regards to this are houses and transportation. I am an avid follower of simple living and small homes, and I just happened to find out about this dealio just recently:
The Micro-Compact Home
I definitely wouldn't mind living in a house like this. They even have a green option where they use both solar and wind power for the house. Being believer in the concept of "less is more" and striving for simplicity in life, I could definitely see myself living in a house similar to this. Although I would hope that the house I do end up with be mobile as I would like to travel too.
Randomly enough, I was watching Two & a Half Men where I heard about Tesla Motors. With Nikola Tesla being one of the great minds of technology, I had to look it up. It turns out that Tesla Motors is all about purely electric cars that perform just as good, if not better, than regular cars. Since then I have been following them and they now recently unveiled their new vehicle model. The Model X (as shown below) is like a cross between a minivan and an SUV.
Technology is beautiful if used properly. And I can only imagine what else is coming in the near future.
Just thought I should share that little tid bit haha...

I can say this weekend was life-changing.
On friday I had my first Standardized patient interview. I had to interview the actor/patient on their problem and also perform a physical examination including eye tests, reflex tests, and blood pressure. It was A LOT harder than I thought but it was really fun. It was hard because my patient was this really big woman and it is REALLY difficult finding a pulse in a thick arm. Also I had to tell her she was obese according to the BMI chart and that feels awkward lol. But she gave me a perfect score and I enjoyed the process a lot even though I was nervous.
Saturday was studying. Chilled with Maryann (the venezuelan first semester girl). MUST STAY FOCUSED. I studied with Alyssa too, randomly because she went to the computer lab I was and woke me up from napping while I was trying to study. Funny times. It's cool that we're talking more this semester. Not in a I want to get with her type way, but just in general.
Sunday was amazing. In the morning I went with the Ross Catholic Students Association to the nearby town of portsmouth and was involved in running a clinic. I had REAL patients! I was a floater so I had to help at various stations. I did patient interviews, eye exams, and health and nutrition work (there were approximately 70 patients attended the clinic). The patients were all local people from the Church of St John and St Louis. It was some next spiritual thing. I really felt like I was doing the Lord's work while also learning first hand the joys of being a physician. After that I had a volleyball game against Maryann's team LOL. My team won. Then Church was soooo good. Father Sharpless (our resident priest) literally started singing during homily and got everyone off their seats and singing. The choir was legitly on point too. I was able to spend the afternoon and night catching up with school and I killed my demonstration today.
After a mad stressful week where I felt behind... All I needed was some inspiration. Looking back, I was selfish last week and I expected people to cater to my needs but after catering to other peoples... I felt like my needs were addressed as well.
Stay Blessed.

I can finally hear out of my left ear again. LIFE IS GOOD!
Oh and I'm starting to take online courses for investing, so thumbs up for that. That's what I was sending to you Mike, just in case you may have thought it was spam. Also my phone is working again and I went for a run yesterday to start training for the 10K run in MAY. Things are looking good today and on that note I shall leave you all with a little song that makes me feel all happy inside for some reason. haha

Balance?
I feel like I'm lacking balance lately. I'm good Academically (killed the practical exam), Physically (basketball, volleyball, gym), Spiritually (Rosary on wednesdays, church on sundays), but now I feel like I'm lacking socially. Maybe because I closed my facebook and tumblr. My friends here go party. I don't feel like drinking or getting high no more so I don't spend as much time with them. lol I need nerd friends! Friends who I can go to the library with or just chill and watch tv with or something. The school material comes fast but life here is slow. It is refreshing not being the "social" one any more but it would be nice to have friends who didn't go HAM every chance lol.
On another note. When you guys cool to skype?

Got sick this week. Also I went to the local YMCA and have begun practicing how to swim, with the help of the drop-in adult lessons of course. And now my left ear is clogged with earwax because of the water going into my ears mixing with my earwax and so I can't hear anything while I also continue to lay in bed and trying to recover from my cold. So I would say it has been quite the week. I finally took my first step to becoming aquatic but also a step back in terms of health.

Transition
It's around this time in our lives where people begin to graduate, find jobs, establish themselves and set off beginning the foundations for their own families. With Warren off in Alberta, I'm in the caribbean, and even my brother is planning to go to either Chicago or the caribbean depending on if he gets accepted or not. Makes you wonder what things will be like in 1 year? Where will everyone be? I don't even know where I'll be because after my 5th semester in hopefully Michigan, it'll be anybody's guess. Exciting and scary point in our lives. Best of luck to the homie Warren out there doing his thing in the working world. I'm lucky enough to have left Toronto girlfriend-less =P. I can't even imagine how difficult it is for him and Karen. The scary thing is 3 years from now... someone may be married, have kids, their own place, whatever. Rollercoaster of life.

Truth
“That’s been one of my mantras — focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”

Kina grannis - It's love (studio version w/ lyrics)
Here's a Kina Grannis song to end the year with. It has an odd sense of hope and joy to it. And that's definitely the feeling I'd like to start 2012 with.
This would be my last post for 2011 as I am about to go to city hall/celebration square with my mom and my brother for New Years, so Happy New Years to everyone else out there. Make this next year another year to remember. It will have its ups and down but you'll get through it as long as you learn from it and strive for improvement.
Educate. Innovate. Respect.

Wes Montgomery - Polka Dots & Moonbeams
This just seems like one of those songs you see in old romcoms. It kind of makes you want to fall in love during the winter season, only to stay indoors and cozy up near a fire with someone... SHOFFTT. haha No but seriously, good track.
Happy Holidays everyone.

The Slakadeliqs ft. Justin Nozuka ::: Love Controls The Sun
If only time would stop, just for one moment.
People continually coming and going, I can't help but be affected by it. I need something consistent in my life. I have actually been having dreams of being with someone, only to wake up. I was doing good but I swear these winter months are getting to me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've been following what I need to so that I won't get affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder and still it's getting to me. Maybe I'm just feeling lonely. I have no clue right now. I just want to do well this term and pass those ActSci exams. I told myself I need to get my shit in order first but this keeps creeping up. I just to need focus g'dangit...

Autodesk Maya
My sleep has been completely messed up recently, and last night I ran out of things to do... won a few games of starcraft 2, played a bit of skyrim, tried to watch a few movies, so I went and installed Autodesk Maya. I've had this program sitting in my laptop for a while, but I was never able to use it because my laptop couldn't handle it.
This was made pretty quickly following a tutorial step by step, hopefully I'll learn new tricks to the program so I can make better renders:
this shit is fuckin awesome...

IMMATURE-My VERY FIRST TIME
Ahh man. I remember listenin to this as a youngin' wondering what life was gonna be like, wondered what love would be like. The times have definitely changed but I still like to think that there's a part of me that's still a hopeless romantic. I know what you're thinking, "SOFTTT TINGS... no waffle" but I'm not even gonna front, it is what it is and I have my moments haha.Pause.

"Sometimes the answers to your questions can be found in the waiting."
So I went to church last night to ease my mind and gain some inner peace after all the chaos and anger that was Saturday. The Homily was pretty interesting. The priest talked about his experience of traveling to Laos to meet a friend, this Buddhist monk that he met here in Canada. He talked about how he had gone to visit his friend in order to do research for this course on world religions and their view of spirituality. He talked about how he was so riled up, ready to ask several questions but instead his friend sat him down only to have a cup of specially prepared tea. This frustrated him because he was unable to ask his questions but his friend had sensed this. His friend then stated, "Sometimes the answers to your questions can be found in the waiting." It was then that he realized that his questions were trivial and instead he was given one of the most important lessons of his life. He then went on to reference a poem called "Midnight" by a poet Dom Hendler (I don't think that name is right) and quotes the poet saying, "The midnight is that moment when the night is pregnant with the dawn." To him this meant several things and with his final message of his homily he again refered back to the gift of waiting, saying "The waiting is the moment pregnant with possibilities."
Personally, I found this very applicable to what I have been going through. My job search, my path to becoming an Actuary and to OUCH/UWHH. We are so caught up about where we want to end up that sometimes we forget how great the journey is to get there. The several things we may experience, the friends we make, the things we learn and the possibilities/opportunities presented to us, it all comes together to make the journey that much more special.

Words of Advice
It's not because you are not good enough to achieve anything. It is that you're not trying hard enough.
An upper semester told me this when discussing her transition to an international medical school from undergrad. I have felt that I was inadequate to become a doctor enough times in undergrad (I mean, I had genius roomates by comparison)... but actually studying the material and applying myself like I'm a monk (literally study, sleep, eat, now and then exercise), I can see that wasn't the case. Will all this new found effort be worth it? So far it's paying off. But we'll know when I graduate (God Willing).
Just some words of advice before exam time starts. Best of luck on OUCH, exams, life, filipino ladies breathing down your neck, etc.

Even though she's in med school. She's still a filipino girl.
So a funny thing happened last night at the biggest party of the semester before exams hit. Well I reached this pre game party with some friends and everything was good. Saw bunch of people and good times were had by all. Then we all started walking to the main party. You remember that hot filipino girl I told y'all about? Well we know each other, we talk now and then but dont really chill. Well anyways she was in front of me in the line to get in to the event. The event costed 30ECD to get in. I was pretty drunk by then. But anyways she turns around and asks me if I can pay 10ECD to help cover for this guy. I told her, "Girl I don't know you like that." and WOW LOL. She got mad son. Like responded "Fuck you." Like an emphasis on the Fuck and you. not like sarcastic or jokingly. She was pissed. LOL (I actually laughed as a response because I mean seriously, she mad because I wont pay for one of her random guy friends?) I duno I guess she ain't used to people saying no to her. She turned from hot to bitch quick. I'm just saying it here because I'm not going to tell anyone else in this school about that, I don't want to start beef or talk shit about someone behind their back over one event. I just thought she overreacted. I had a good time overall that night though. Now no more partying. Pure studies from here on out.
Good luck to all of you studying for your exams and such as well.
Peace. Bitches be crazy. Specially the filipino ones.

(Excuse the grammatical errors just wrote this down as soon as I woke up so that I won't forget it)
Water pressure goes down in all houses. Government (?) Installs water "regulators". Water becomes scarce. Everyone is told to move to large mall like building in order to receive proper water supply. Everyone within the city moves into this building only bringing the clothes they are wearing and pajamas. Now I am searching for my little brother throughout this huge complex and he is no where to be found.

No Me Ames - Jennifer Lopez feat. Marc Anthony
Definitely need this kind of music for a morning like this.
Sidenote: Definitely loving cuban salsa more. It's what dancing should be like. A connection with you and the music and occasionally the connection you share with another person. All these f***ing counts and technicality completely go against the whole reason why dancing was ever created...

Lime'n
Soo to update the world. Friday night I was feeling just about hopeless and kinda getting depressed with my whole situation. Then met up with homegirl Nilerz to choreo for OUCH. Some serious choreo block, especially being depressed doesn't help. But definitely lightened up after chillin and just talkin for a bit. Worked on what we could and then went home.
We went home and got ready to reach Kelsey's house because FJ was in town and we were gonna lime. Kyle and Mich reached and even my housemates, Kirk, Ben and Samer went for a bit. Funny times just playing music while running some card games (Signal then King's cup). Ben, Kirk and Samer had to dip to reach sauga and that's when the craziness began. All I can say is there was beer, rum, soca, dancehall, reggae, Backstreet Boys and whinin.
Overall a good night and definitely what I needed to get me out of the that deep funk I was in.
Good Times, Good Friends indeed. #GTGF
P.S. Paul and Mike you guys should reach one time especially when Paul gets back from Dominica.

Kinda like a hood Gwen Stefani that probably beat up Kreayshawn for lunch money. That ass tho... hahaha
Weird how they both have an Azaliea or whatever in their names. Love this girl though. Seen her shit wayyy before when she was featured in some Nike documentary about Queens (I think I posted that before on this blog). Just trying to relax my mind with these hard tracks. Peace world.

I think im quitting weed. Like I have it here right in front of me. But it's not fun anymore. The people I smoke it with are different. I guess I enjoyed it more because of the people I did it with. The friends here are cool still, but I don't get the same amount of fun out of weed from them. Also this ish is evil to many people in this school, and I don't want to be known as that pot smoker (even though I blow most students out the water with my straight As Sonnnnnn lol). On that note. 6 more weeks til I return home. How's the vibe back home? things good/fun/stressful/different/just daily grind/etc?
You know what else I miss? Bitchy girls. Not like Rude and inconsiderate. But I mean like attitude. that swagger that they are the shit and know it and can speak their mind. LOL girls here.... sure some of them cute... but they're too nice? I cannot see myself with any of them to be honest. Sigh doctors.... I'll gladly settle for an all attitude filipina nurse.

Educate. Innovate. Respect.
Educate yourself and others to be better people in order to understand and improve the world through innovation.
Innovate yourself and the world in order to make the world a better place (you can start with yourself).
Respect yourself and the world because the world is full of people with no self-confidence or respect for one another (This includes respect for the world/environment we live in).
I think I've found my mantra...
(oh and one last thing... Be Selfless as long as it still follows those three things)

It's been a while but I have been reminded that there are people in this world that are just straight-up rude. Typically I can handle most people and being in waterloo I know that everyone here is generally more submissive or self-kept. But this person just ticked me off because of the attitude they displayed and the unnecessary tone that just makes me want to inflict physical harm.
It definitely messed with my head but I'm trying to calm this anger that's boiling up because there are better ways of confronting these types of things. I need to remain calm, collected, and reasonable to understand the situation and comprehend why someone would act that way or risk becoming like that.

We Found Love - Rihanna
Besides Rihanna speaking "British" in the beginning. I really enjoyed this music video. Maybe because it reminds me of summer. The drugs, the chilling, the people. This coming from a future doctor. hahahaha.
Hope everything's good with the homies back home.

Munny: Vivi 2
After adding Sculpey to the munny:
I had to redo the hat sooo many times, and when I finally got it the way I wanted, I found out it was too heavy, and if I put it on the body it would fall backwards... so I added the tail to the back of the body to keep the munny balanced.

Baked the head and the body at 275 degrees C for 15 minutes as instructed on the Sculpey package, and this is what I got in the end. The back of the munny didnt turn out as well as I expected, the gap between the head and the neck is too wide, and the coat tail sort of looks like a buttcrack but that's okay:

Now all I have to do is sand down the bumpy edges, smooth the sculpey out, then paint!

FML. Can't seem to focus today. I did get a good amount of studying yesterday. I even went to break for a bit after studying. I made and accomplished small goals for myself yesterday why can't I do it again. Anyways, on the side I finally can do 5 consecutive windmill rotations and also 5 consecutive swipes but I fell short on doing 3 flare rotations.
I swear it is so much easier to accomplish physical feats rather than mental ones. *sigh*

Munny: Vivi

My munny is going to be based off of Vivi from final fantasy 9.
supplies for the munny: acrylic paint, sculpey oven-bake clay, paintbrushes
Munny quick sketch and outlines with the design drawn on the template I found a while back. I also though of doing a moogle. the moogle would have been awesome but someone's already done it -_-. lets hope this Black Mage works out!!!!!!

also since Id have extra sculpey left after this I was planning on making more munnies, I think it would be awesome doing all the Black Waltz' from Final Fantasy 9 because they look so bad ass, and it would be awesome having a set of munnies with a theme that fits them together.
The only downside to making munnies is that there's sOOooOoo many things you can make it into. My other ideas included functioning computer speakers, graffiti, and a lot of different random designs... aiyahh...
if only i had more moneys to buy more munnies...
